Men’s Wearhouse Tuxedo Review and Missing Carolina

Firstly, sorry for the lack of updates lately as I’ve been away. For the past week, my wife and I were in Tokyo, one of my favorite cities, and Hiroshima where we spent a fantastic day in sleepy Miyajima. Prior to that, however, we first visited Charlotte for our friend’s wedding, which was beautiful and the second most memorable wedding I’ve attended after my own. As best man, I delivered my best man speech and also suited up in a Men’s Wearhouse tuxedo for the first time. Previously, I wrote a negative review of Men’s Wearhouse, and a reader in the comments called me out for reviewing a product I never personally used. As a result, I thought I’d give a Men’s Wearhouse tuxedo review now that I’ve finally worn one.     Men’s Wearhouse Tuxedo Review After wearing a Men’s Wearhouse Calvin Klein tuxedo, I must say I was partially incorrect about the actual tuxedo and comfort quality but stand by my negative criticism of their price. As...

More Savings with ShopDiscover and Discover Cashback

If you’ve been reading about cash back portals and buying a tuxedo or suit from Macy’s at great prices, you may be wondering several questions?   Q. What exactly is this “DiscoverCard.com” cash back portal you see at the top of Cashbackholic’s page when you search for Macy’s? Q.Why is the cash back rate so much higher for this “DiscoverCard.com” cash back portal than the other cash back portals I’ve discussed in the past, such as Ebates, Top Cash Back, and Mr. Rebates? Q.Why is this “DiscoverCard.com” offering the highest cash back for many retailers besides Macy’s? For example, it is currently offering the highest cash back for Sears at 10%.     ShopDiscover and Discover Cashback DiscoverCard.com refers to ShopDiscover, which is another cash back portal that can be a powerful tool in saving you money when shopping online. Unlike other popular cash back portals, ShopDiscover is only available to Discover cardholders. It is a bonus perk to entice you to open up one of their credit cards...

Paul Frederick Shirts Deal

In the last post, I talked about buying a tuxedo or suit from Macy’s for cheaper than renting at Men’s Wearhouse. You will, however, still need to buy shirts and ties, and Macy’s does not necessarily have the best deals for that. Instead, I recommend this Paul Fredrick shirts deal, which I first read about on Dan’s Deal.     The Main Point Basically, you can get up to four shirts for $19.95 each. On top of that, each shirt comes with free monogramming if you want it. You can choose to have the initials monogrammed on the sleeve cuff or the shirt pocket for a distinctive look. While I think other retailers, such as Charles Tyrwhitt, have better quality shirts, I also like Paul Fredrick, because they have a lot more options in terms of shirt sizes, collar types, etc. Most importantly, the Paul Fredrick shirts deal is a great value. No tax is applied to orders outside of Pennsylvania and shipping will be $12.95 for four shirts, so your...

Buying a Tuxedo or Suit from Macy’s at Great Prices

In yesterday’s post, I discussed why I thought shopping at Men’s Wearhouse for tuxedos was a bad idea. Their tuxedos are poor quality, uncomfortable, and will cost you the same amount of money as buying a brand new one! That is why I recommend buying a tuxedo instead of renting one. In addition, I recommend buying a tuxedo or suit from Macy’s for the following reasons:   1) Wide range of selection and sizes 2) Decent quality especially against competitors, such as JC Penney, Bergner’s, etc. 3) Constant “deals” and coupon codes that give you 15% to 25% off along with free shipping 4) Good cash back rate via a cash back portal and can easily find 11% discounted gift cards at Plastic Jungle 5) Large nationwide presence so tailoring needs and purchase returns are easy   Macy’s Tuxedos And Suits For lower-quality material (not 100% wool) just look at all these tuxedos and suits for $129.99, such as the Kenneth Cole Reaction Slim Fit Suit. For some of them, you...

Other Wedding Registry Links

In my previous post about shopping for wedding registry gifts, I advised you to never click on a couple’s registry link. Instead, I recommended you to go through a cash back portal and buy discounted gift cards. The savings will rapidly add up. In that post, however, I used Macy’s as an example, and a few of you asked me where the wedding registry link was located on other retailers’ websites. Here are five other popular wedding registry retailers, and a picture of how you can navigate to a wedding registry from their homepage once you have gone through a cash back portal.   Wedding Registry Retailers Amazon: First go to Amazon. You will have to sign in then go to “Your Account” before scrolling down to the bottom to “Personalization.”   Bed Bath & Beyond: Simply go to Bed Bath & Beyond. The link will be in the middle tab on the top. Bloomingdale’s: Simply go to Bloomingdale’s. The link will be in the top right labelled “The...

Don’t Buy Wedding Registry Gifts from a Couple’s Link!

A lot of the information on this blog is aimed to help couples who are planning for their wedding but hopefully, this post will help those who are frequent wedding guests. While planning for a wedding can be expensive and hectic, sometimes we forget that going to weddings is not exactly cheap either. You have travel costs, clothing costs, and of course wedding registry gifts costs. The latter can really add up if you are going to a lot of weddings in a row. Some of my friends are doing just that this coming summer. For them, I have one piece of advice – don’t buy wedding registry gifts from a couple’s link! Couples often create a wedding website chock full of information, such as how they met, bridal party blurbs, and a wedding registry page. Sometimes, the couple will have one registry. Other times, they may have two or three registries. In all cases, the couple’s links will take you directly to their registry page at popular retailers,...
