Destination Wedding Tips and Guide

Previously, I shared a tip on how to save a bit of money when doing a destination wedding in Hawaii. I’m sure, however, that cost is only one of the many factors that need to be considered when planning a destination wedding. As a result, I thought I’d share this infographic I came across, which provides good destination wedding tips courtesy of Marriott.  ...

Hotel Review: Conrad Tokyo King Suite Bay View

After flying ANA First Class Square to Narita International Airport and taking the Narita Express to Tokyo, we headed to the Conrad Tokyo, where we were staying five nights. We booked the stay using Hilton HHonors points and because I was a Hilton HHonors diamond, the hotel upgraded us from a standard room to a King Suite Bay View room, which was a nice surprise!     How You Can Do It The Conrad Tokyo is a category 10 hotel on the Hilton HHonors award chart, so a standard room will cost 70,000 to 95,000 points per night depending on what time of the year you stay at the hotel. If you are a silver, gold, or diamond Hilton HHonors member, however, you get the 5th night free whenever you book a 5-night stay. As a result, The total cost will be between 280,000 and 380,000 Hilton HHonors points. You can earn Hilton HHonors points via credit card signup bonuses. Credit cards, such as the Amex Hilton HHonors credit...

Trip Review: What to Do in Washington DC

Besides enjoying the Park Hyatt Washington Park Executive Suite and the great food options in the city, we also took part in a lot of activities during our visit to Washington DC. Naturally, the city has lots of museums, and they are not necessarily all government related. If you visit during the National Cherry Blossom Festival, you will have a daily list of festivities to choose from as well. Here’s a short list of what to do in Washington DC.   What to Do in Washington DC Segway tours are a popular way to quickly see all the popular buildings and memorials spread through the National Mall area, and I highly recommend it unless you want to spend a long period of time at one specific attraction. We went with Private DC Segway Tours and thought they were awesome. You’ll also want to contact your local Congressman’s office months before your visit if you want to tour the White House as they will need time to try to secure...

Trip Review: What to Eat in Washington DC

We recently stayed three nights at the Park Hyatt Washington and was able to try a range of restaurants in the city. While I can’t think of any food that Washington D.C. specializes in, we really enjoyed the food in the city. As a result, I thought I’d share with you ideas on what to eat in Washington DC.   What to Eat in Washington DC We liked the free breakfast at Blue Duck Tavern that was included in our stay since the menu items were quite varied and different from what you might see on typical breakfast menus. Dishes, such as Maryland crab with scrambled egg whites and short rib hash, were all fantastic. The restaurants we went for dinner were all great as well, and we particularly enjoyed Estadio, which was recommended by my friend who lives in Washington D.C.     The Main Point Washington D.C. has a great selection of restaurants that will satisfy your taste buds. Just a quick tip for those of you...

Hotel Review: Park Hyatt Washington Park Executive Suite

Recently, my wife and I decided to visit Washington D.C. for the opening weekend of the National Cherry Blossom Festival. We’re going to Japan in a few weeks and thought it would be great to get a sneak peek of the cherry blossoms here. While the trees haven’t bloomed yet due to the delayed Spring, we still had a great time in the city. Washington D.C. can be quite scenic and full of culture during this time of the year, and our stay at the Park Hyatt Washington Park Executive Suite was fantastic. During our Segway tour, we also met a British couple who were on their honeymoon so while it’s not your typical honeymoon destination, Washington D.C. can be a romantic place. If you do decide to visit Washington D.C., I highly recommend staying at the Park Hyatt Washington.     How You Can Do It The Park Hyatt Washington is a category 6 hotel on the Hyatt Gold Passport chart, so a standard room will cost 25,000...

Trip Review: What to Eat in Miami Beach and Avoid Scams

We only stayed at the Hilton Bentley Miami South Beach for a weekend so our time in Miami Beach was relatively short. Nevertheless, we got to try a few restaurants and walked down the Art Deco District a couple of times so I wanted to share with you what to eat in Miami Beach. More importantly, I want to discuss the restaurant scams operating along Ocean Drive and how you can avoid these scams.   What to Eat in Miami Beach From the Hilton Bentley, it’s really easy to walk to tons of restaurant options. We really enjoyed Bolivar, a Colombian restaurant my wife found. It had great food at good prices. The famous Joe’s Stone Crab is literally around the corner and also featured good food but since it’s more of a fine dining place, dinner can get pricey. Where I would highly recommend you NOT eat at, however, is most restaurants alongside Ocean Drive. Not only are they generally considered tourist traps, many are actually scams. When my...

How to Redeem Free Nights at Hilton Bentley Miami South Beach

When I reviewed our free stay at the Hilton Bentley Miami South Beach, I mentioned that we were able to redeem the 2 free weekend nights that came with the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve credit card. Booking the free nights, however, is not as simple as going to the Hilton HHonors website and reserving your stay, because redeeming the free weekend night certificates requires calling the Hilton HHonors hotline. But more importantly, it looks like the Hilton Bentley could be making award nights hard to search for so you’ll have to use a workaround.   Redeem Free Nights at Hilton Bentley Miami South Beach Step 1: Go to the Hilton HHonors website and search for the nights you want to stay at the Hilton Bentley Miami South Beach but make sure to search one night at a time. If you search for two or more nights, it may show you no availability! I’m not sure why that is the case, but it could be because the Hilton Bentley wants to discourage...

Hotel Review: Hilton Bentley Miami South Beach Part 2

Last time, I reviewed the Partial Ocean View One Bedroom Suite at the Hilton Bentley Miami South Beach. As great as the rooms are, the best part of the hotel is actually its location and beach club. Maybe it’s just me, but I really like that you can be in the ocean one second, grab something in your room 5 minutes later, then be back in your beach chair shortly after that. In addition, the restaurant, gym, and spa facilities are also nice.   How You Can Do It We booked two nights using the 2 free weekend nights that comes with the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve credit card. The card gives you 2 free weekend nights after spending $2,500 within 4 months and also gives you free Hilton HHonors gold status, which means you’ll get free breakfast and the resort fee waived if you are on an award stay. Paid stays require the additional resort fee, which includes Internet access, two mojitos, and rentals (umbrella, chairs, and towels) at the...

Hotel Review: Hilton Bentley Miami South Beach One Bedroom Suite

Because our recent trip to Aruba and Turks & Caicos were both cancelled due to weather, my wife and I decided to do a makeup trip by heading down to Miami’s South Beach for a weekend. Being a major airport hub, Miami has so many incoming flights that it’s easily accessible from many cities across the United States. The nice beach and vivid cultural scene make it a great honeymoon destination for those seeking an active nightlife rather than a low-key atmosphere. We stayed at the Hilton Bentley Miami South Beach, which is known as the hotel where the Kardashians stayed at while filming Kourtney and Khloé Take Miami. I actually consider that a negative aspect of the hotel but Kardashians asides, the Hilton Bentley Miami South Beach offers fantastic rooms at a prime location in South Beach.   How You Can Do It We booked two nights using the 2 free weekend nights that comes with the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve credit card. The card gives you 2 free...

Getting Hyatt Diamond Challenge More Than Once

If you are not aware, you can get free Hyatt diamond status with a Hyatt diamond trial. Hyatt diamond status is Hyatt’s highest status tier, which provides benefits, such as free breakfast, free Regency Club/Grand Club access, and free room upgrades. After undergoing a Hyatt diamond challenge during our honeymoon at the Grand Hyatt Kauai, I can tell you that experiencing diamond status was fantastic and helped save a lot of money. The only problem is each Hyatt Gold Passport member is entitled to just one Hyatt diamond challenge in their lifetime . . . or is that really the case? After some recent emails with Hyatt, I think that under special circumstances, people can request a Hyatt diamond challenge more than once.     Hyatt Diamond Challenge My wife successfully registered for a Hyatt diamond trial before our Aruba trip where we planned to stay at the Hyatt Regency Aruba using points. Due to snowstorms and frigid temperatures across the Northeast, however, our flight was cancelled and two...
