A&S Foreign Exchange Has the Best FX Rates in NYC

When traveling internationally for your honeymoon or other trips, I highly recommend getting a no foreign exchange fee credit card, such as the Barclays Arrival credit card, which offers a fantastic signup bonus. You should also exchange for some foreign currency ahead of time, because it’s easy to get hit with ATM fees overseas or worse yet, get gouged by currency services providers, such as Travelex. If you are based in New York City, I recommend A&S Foreign Exchange for your FX needs. They are conveniently located near Penn Station at 357 7th Avenue and in my opinion, offers the best exchange rates in NYC.     A&S Foreign Exchange From the outside, A&S Foreign Exchange looks nothing like a foreign exchange service provider. It’s actually located inside a souvenir gift shop, but there is a large banner at the top that says, “A&S Foreign Exchange.” Feel free to get 5 New York T-Shirts for $10.99 while you are there! Near the door is also an easel sign claiming...

Top Cash Back Offers New Payment Option with 5% Bonus

If you’ve read my introduction to cash back on everything, you know that Top Cash Back is one of my favorite cash back portals, because they tend to offer the highest cash back rates for online shopping you would normally do anyways. Now, Top Cash Back has introduced a new payment option in the form of an Amazon gift card. By choosing this option, users get a 5% bonus.   Top Cash Back and Amazon Gift Card For example, I recently decided to cash out my own Top Cash Back account, where I’ve earned $90 by simply clicking through Top Cash Back when I start my normal online shopping. I normally have Top Cash Back deposit my payment directly into my bank account. Now, however, I can choose to forgo cash and take payment in the form of an Amazon gift card. By doing so, Top Cash Back will give me a 5% Bonus.     Because the Citi Forward credit card no longer offers new cardholders 5 Thank You...

Hotel Review: Hilton Bentley Miami South Beach Part 2

Last time, I reviewed the Partial Ocean View One Bedroom Suite at the Hilton Bentley Miami South Beach. As great as the rooms are, the best part of the hotel is actually its location and beach club. Maybe it’s just me, but I really like that you can be in the ocean one second, grab something in your room 5 minutes later, then be back in your beach chair shortly after that. In addition, the restaurant, gym, and spa facilities are also nice.   How You Can Do It We booked two nights using the 2 free weekend nights that comes with the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve credit card. The card gives you 2 free weekend nights after spending $2,500 within 4 months and also gives you free Hilton HHonors gold status, which means you’ll get free breakfast and the resort fee waived if you are on an award stay. Paid stays require the additional resort fee, which includes Internet access, two mojitos, and rentals (umbrella, chairs, and towels) at the...

Hotel Review: Hilton Bentley Miami South Beach One Bedroom Suite

Because our recent trip to Aruba and Turks & Caicos were both cancelled due to weather, my wife and I decided to do a makeup trip by heading down to Miami’s South Beach for a weekend. Being a major airport hub, Miami has so many incoming flights that it’s easily accessible from many cities across the United States. The nice beach and vivid cultural scene make it a great honeymoon destination for those seeking an active nightlife rather than a low-key atmosphere. We stayed at the Hilton Bentley Miami South Beach, which is known as the hotel where the Kardashians stayed at while filming Kourtney and Khloé Take Miami. I actually consider that a negative aspect of the hotel but Kardashians asides, the Hilton Bentley Miami South Beach offers fantastic rooms at a prime location in South Beach.   How You Can Do It We booked two nights using the 2 free weekend nights that comes with the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve credit card. The card gives you 2 free...

Barclays Arrival Minimum Spending Requirement Increasing to $3,000 in 90 Days

Previously, the Barclays Arrival credit card offered one of the best signup bonuses available. You could earn 44,000 miles (worth $440 towards travel) after spending just $1,000 in 90 days, and you can read about all the other perks and benefits in my analysis of the credit card. When deals are too good, however, they tend to change and recently, the Barclays Arrival minimum spending requirement increased to $3,000 in 90 days.     Barclays Arrival Minimum Spending Requirement Increased While the minimum spending requirement increase to $3,000 is certainly a negative development, it’s really not that big a deal. It’s still very easy to use Amazon Payments to meet your spending requirement needs, and the core features of the credit card do not change. You still earn 2 miles per $ spent (2.2 miles if you factor in the 10% miles rebate), the annual fee is still waived for the first year and most importantly, you still earn the large signup bonus, which is worth around $440 towards any...

100,000 Miles and Admirals Club Membership Via Citi Executive AAdvantage Credit Card

A special, promotional offer for the Citi Executive AAdvantage credit card has been floating around the Internet lately. The offer is targeted to guests who visit an AA Admirals Club and offers a great signup bonus including 100,000 American Airlines miles after spending $10,000 within 3 months and Admirals Club membership for lounge access. On the application page, however, it asks for a 6-digit referral code and a 3-letter airport code. While people have been successful in applying for the card without the referral information, I know some people like to have the application fully completed and only want to apply if they feel it’s official. As a result, I grabbed the promotional offer from the Admirals Club when I was at LaGuardia Airport this past weekend to share the information with you.   Citi Executive AAdvantage The biggest positives of the Citi Executive AAdvantage credit card’s signup bonus is the 100,000 AAdvantage miles and Admirals Club membership. The biggest negative is the $450 annual fee, which is not...

Lowest Car Rental Prices with Capital One Travelocity

When I wrote about how to get a free honeymoon convertible car rental, I mentioned using Costco Travel to search for a cheap car rental since I’ve been using that for years, and it consistently gave some of the lowest prices. A couple years ago, however, I learned that the Capital One Travelocity portal may offer even lower prices than Costco Travel thanks to this investigation by Rapid Travel Chai. The only issue is you need a Capital One miles rewards credit card to access this special Travelocity search engine, and I only had a Capital One cash back credit card. Recently, however, I opened the Capital One Venture credit card during a promotion where I would receive 50,000 bonus miles (worth $500 towards travel charges) after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months. After personally testing the Capital One Travelocity portal, I can say that it does in fact offer some of the lowest car rental prices available.   Capital One Travelocity To access the Capital One Travelocity portal,...

Bachelor/Bachelorette Party Review: The Borgata at Atlantic City

If I had to guess, Las Vegas is probably the most popular destination for a bachelor or bachelorette party, and Sin City has only become more popular with the release of Vegas-themed movies, such as The Hangover. For those of us on the East Coast, however, Atlantic City is also a great substitute. It may not be as big or flashy as Las Vegas, but Atlantic City has its benefits – the main one being that it’s only two hours from New York City by car. In fact, a group of us took Atlantic Limousine to Atlantic City for a couple of my friends’ 30th birthday weekend last fall and had a fun time at The Borgata.   How You Can Do It The Borgata is not part of a hotel chain or partnership so you can’t redeem hotel points for a free stay. Of course, hotels including The Borgata are considered a travel expense so you can use the Barclays Arrival credit card and redeem part of the...

$150 of Groceries for $70 Via Amex Sync FreshDirect

We recently signed up for FreshDirect, because an Amex Sync FreshDirect deal (expires 2/15/14) is offering a $30 statement credit for spending $100 or more at FreshDirect. As with many Amex Sync deals, buying gift cards worked so it was easy to get a $100 FreshDirect gift card online for $70. In addition, new FreshDirect customers who sign up through a referral link get $50 off their first two orders of $125 or more. As a result, you can place a $150 FreshDirect order and essentially pay just $70 for the order! Because you get $50 off your first two orders, you can even take part in this deal twice if you have more than one American Express credit card.   FreshDirect For those not familiar with FreshDirect, it’s an online grocer that delivers to the New York City surrounding area. You order online, schedule a delivery time frame, and they deliver straight to your door. They offer standard groceries just like you would find in your local supermarket,...

Free Commuting with the Barclays Arrival Credit Card

As you know, I think the Barclays Arrival credit card is one of the best cards out there since you can get 44,000 miles for free (worth ~$440) as a signup bonus; the card also comes with other perks, such as a 10% rebate on the miles you redeem and no foreign exchange fees. In addition, I’ve highlighted how easy it is to redeem part of the 44,000 miles signup bonus for travel charges. Even if you don’t travel, however, you can use it for everyday commuting expenses so the signup bonus is practically as good as cash. For example, I recently refilled my NYC MTA MetroCard for $25 and a few days later, I was given the option to redeem my Barclays Arrival bonus miles against that charge.     The Main Point You can redeem your Barclays Arrival bonus miles against ANY travel charges and sometimes, it’s easy to forget that commuting is traveling. So whether you need to commute via the NYC subway system, the San Francisco BART,...
