SPG Moments Review: New York Knicks Versus Oklahoma City Thunder

A couple months ago, I posted about how you can get free New York Knicks courtside seats by redeeming Starwood points via SPG Moments. What’s more interesting was that you could redeem multiple packages making it a fantastic bachelor party idea on the cheap. Well, my wife and I just went to the New York Knicks versus Oklahoma City Thunder game on Christmas Day so I wanted to post a review for those who were planning to redeem for other SPG Moments New York Knicks packages.   SPG Moments – Knicks Versus Thunder I’m a big basketball fan so it was a great deal for me to redeem 35,000 Starwood points for the SPG Moments Knicks versus Thunder game on Christmas Day. It was definitely the best seats I ever had to a NBA game, and retail price would’ve been off the charts I’m sure. Unfortunately, Carmelo Anthony, the Knicks’ best player, was out with an injury, and the Knicks are just terrible right now. I think this Yahoo Sports article sums...

$25 Off $75 at Amazon Via Amex Sync Amazon

Amex Sync is on fire lately. Last week, I wrote about how you can get 45% off your shopping at Kmart or Sears by utilizing Amex Sync and a cash back portal. The latest deal is the Amex Sync Amazon deal where until 12/31/13, you get a $25 statement credit after spending $75 or more at Amazon. The best part is you can buy a $75 gift card (electronic or physical) and essentially get 33% off your future Amazon shopping.   Amex Sync Amazon You will of course need American Express credit cards. The more, the better, since you can get the Amex Sync Amazon deal once per American Express credit card. My wife and I have 10 American Express credit cards between us so we bought 10 $75 Amazon electronic gift cards, which essentially means our next $750 in Amazon purchases will only cost $500. Some great American Express cards to use include the American Express Starwood credit card and the American Express Starwood Business credit card. On...

Free Shipping From ShopRunner Forever

Previously, I wrote about ShopRunner and how you can get free two-day shipping from a variety of stores for a year. It’s great for purchasing wedding registry gifts, and one of my favorite ways to use ShopRunner is at Drugstore.com, where you can combine ShopRunner with cash back portals for massive savings on everyday household goods. Well, now you can get free shipping from ShopRunner forever! All you need is an eligible American Express credit card, many which will give you a great signup bonus. Simply go to the ShopRunner homepage, and you’ll see a link at the top for American Express card members to enroll for a complimentary membership. Input your credit card information, and you’ll instantly have free ShopRunner for as long as you have that American Express credit card.     The Main Point I primarily use ShopRunner with Drugstore.com but as you can see from their website, the free two-day shipping is good for a lot of other retailers as well. If you have an...

Free Money from Amex Sync Best Buy Deal is Back

I can’t believe it, but the Amex Sync Best Buy deal is back until 12/31/13. Back in August, I posted about Amex Sync and the fantastic deals offered through the program. At the time, the Amex Sync Best Buy deal was offering a $25 statement credit for spending $250 or more at Best Buy. You could buy a $200 Visa gift card plus $50 in Amazon gift cards and get $25 back. In addition, you would earn a $5 Best Buy reward certificate for every $250 you spend at Best Buy. As a result, I bought the above combination with 10 different American Express credit cards and earned $250 ($25 * 10) and $50 in Best Buy reward certificates, which I used to redeem for a $50 Amazon gift card. Since the Amex Sync Best Buy deal just came back, I repeated that purchase today and bought 10 $200 Visa gift cards and 10 $50 Amazon gift cards. For step-by-step instructions on how to get the Amex Sync Best...

Honeymoon Flight Review: Hawaiian Airlines First Class between New York and Hawaii

These upcoming posts about our honeymoon travels are long overdue but after some friends recently asked what the best way to get to Hawaii for free is, I thought I would finally write up a summary. Rather than go to the Maldives or Bora Bora, we really wanted to go to Hawaii since neither of us have been there. Kauai in particular looked amazing, so we decided to spend a week on the garden island for our honeymoon. From New York, only two airlines fly non-stop to Hawaii, and those two airlines are Hawaiian Airlines and United Airlines. Some would argue that Newark where the United Airlines flight departs from is technically not in New York so there really is only one airline that flies non-stop! The actual cost of our two Hawaiian Airlines First Class tickets was $11,626.58 (although we would obviously never pay that), but we were able to use 160,000 Hawaiian Airlines miles and pay $20 in taxes and fees instead!     How You Can...

Free Bachelor Party Idea: New York Knicks Courtside Seats and Luxury Suite Via Starwood Moments

I’m not joking. You can currently pay $0 and get free New York Knicks courtside seats and access to a luxury suite, which would be the ultimate bachelor party for a NBA fan. And these are not courtside seats for just games against the bottom tier NBA teams; these are games against all teams including the Miami Heat, the L.A. Lakers, etc. All you have to do is open the right credit cards.     Starwood Moments You may have heard of Starwood points, and I’ve briefly mentioned Starwood points when I discussed the American Express Starwood and American Express Starwood Business credit cards. Most people know Starwood points are great for redeeming free hotel nights at Starwood hotels around the world. What they may not be aware of, however, is the ability to use Starwood points for special events via Starwood Moments. Starwood Moments offers access to VIP experiences, such as concerts and sports events, that are not accessible to the general public. These events are exclusive to...

Flight Review: Cathay Pacific First Class from New York to Hong Kong

After my wedding, my sister flew back to Hong Kong and for that part of the trip, I booked her a ticket on Cathay Pacific First Class. Like her Singapore Airlines Business Class ticket, the Cathay Pacific ticket was free since we redeemed airlines miles and points. We had to pay a tiny amount for tax and a small telephone booking fee, but we just put those charges on the Barclays Arrival credit card and redeemed its bonus miles.   How You Can Do It Like Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific is a premier Asian airline that has some of the best airplane seats. Luckily, Cathay Pacific is part of the Oneworld alliance. As a result, you can use American Airlines AAdvantage miles to redeem for award tickets on Cathay Pacific. As the American Airlines award chart displays, a one way Cathay Pacific First Class ticket from New York to Hong Kong costs 67,500 AAdvantage miles; business class costs 55,000 AAdvantages miles while economy costs 35,000 AAdvantage miles. As a result, your best...
