Bachelor/Bachelorette Party Review: The Borgata at Atlantic City

If I had to guess, Las Vegas is probably the most popular destination for a bachelor or bachelorette party, and Sin City has only become more popular with the release of Vegas-themed movies, such as The Hangover. For those of us on the East Coast, however, Atlantic City is also a great substitute. It may not be as big or flashy as Las Vegas, but Atlantic City has its benefits – the main one being that it’s only two hours from New York City by car. In fact, a group of us took Atlantic Limousine to Atlantic City for a couple of my friends’ 30th birthday weekend last fall and had a fun time at The Borgata.   How You Can Do It The Borgata is not part of a hotel chain or partnership so you can’t redeem hotel points for a free stay. Of course, hotels including The Borgata are considered a travel expense so you can use the Barclays Arrival credit card and redeem part of the...

SPG Moments Review: New York Knicks Versus Oklahoma City Thunder

A couple months ago, I posted about how you can get free New York Knicks courtside seats by redeeming Starwood points via SPG Moments. What’s more interesting was that you could redeem multiple packages making it a fantastic bachelor party idea on the cheap. Well, my wife and I just went to the New York Knicks versus Oklahoma City Thunder game on Christmas Day so I wanted to post a review for those who were planning to redeem for other SPG Moments New York Knicks packages.   SPG Moments – Knicks Versus Thunder I’m a big basketball fan so it was a great deal for me to redeem 35,000 Starwood points for the SPG Moments Knicks versus Thunder game on Christmas Day. It was definitely the best seats I ever had to a NBA game, and retail price would’ve been off the charts I’m sure. Unfortunately, Carmelo Anthony, the Knicks’ best player, was out with an injury, and the Knicks are just terrible right now. I think this Yahoo Sports article sums...

Bachelor/Bachelorette Party Cost: Atlantic Limousine

One of the timeless bachelor/bachelorette party ideas is hitting up the casino to have a nice meal and do some social gambling with your best friends. Movies, such as The Hangover, often use Las Vegas as a setting but for those of us in New York City, Atlantic City is much closer and can still be a fun time. It only takes around two hours to drive from Manhattan to Atlantic City with no traffic so on average it takes two to three hours. Trust me when I say this – it’s a lot more fun to take a limousine or party bus over than the Greyhound or Chinatown bus. And when you have a group, the cost is actually not that high for a limousine. I did some extensive research for one of my friend’s 30th birthday party a couples month ago and discovered Atlantic Limousine. In my opinion, Atlantic Limousine has the best prices for limousines from New York City to Atlantic City. In addition, their website...

Free Bachelor Party Idea: New York Knicks Courtside Seats and Luxury Suite Via Starwood Moments

I’m not joking. You can currently pay $0 and get free New York Knicks courtside seats and access to a luxury suite, which would be the ultimate bachelor party for a NBA fan. And these are not courtside seats for just games against the bottom tier NBA teams; these are games against all teams including the Miami Heat, the L.A. Lakers, etc. All you have to do is open the right credit cards.     Starwood Moments You may have heard of Starwood points, and I’ve briefly mentioned Starwood points when I discussed the American Express Starwood and American Express Starwood Business credit cards. Most people know Starwood points are great for redeeming free hotel nights at Starwood hotels around the world. What they may not be aware of, however, is the ability to use Starwood points for special events via Starwood Moments. Starwood Moments offers access to VIP experiences, such as concerts and sports events, that are not accessible to the general public. These events are exclusive to...

Bachelor Party Flight Back Home

Despite being married for almost three months now, I still find myself very in tune with the wedding industry and many aspects of wedding planning. Lots of our friends are getting married in the near future. In fact, my best friend is getting married in April 2014, and we’ll both be flying home to the Midwest this weekend for his bachelor party. Using airline miles and points, we were both able to fly for free, and that’s the beauty of using airline miles whether you are getting married or simply involved in a lot of weddings.   Free Flight with Barclays Arrival I booked part of my bachelor party flight from New York on Travelocity and since Travelocity charges are considered a travel expense, I was able to redeem my Barclays Arrival bonus miles. As you can see, the flight costs $149.80 but because I have the Barclays Arrival credit card and its signup bonus of 44,000 miles, I was able to redeem 15,000 of those miles and get...

Bachelor/Bachelorette Party Cost: Chelsea Piers Mini Olympics

Bachelor party, bachelorette party, stag party – whatever you want to call it, they have become an integral part of wedding traditions. The old theory was that this party is the last time the groom or bride will be single and as a result, they should go nuts and live life as a single person one final time. I think that thought process is absolutely wrong but happy to hear your thoughts. Instead, I believe the bachelor/bachelorette party is a time to take a break from all the wedding planning and spend quality time bonding with your closest friends. One great way to do that is via the Chelsea Piers Mini Olympics. [Update 9/1/15] The price increased from $65 to $70 a person.     Party Venue: Chelsea Piers Mini Olympics Activity: Mini Olympics Date Price Quoted: May 2013 Party Date Quoted For: June 2013 (Saturday afternoon) Venue Fee: $0 Additional Cost Per Person: $70 Tax: 0% Total Party Venue Cost: $70 per person   The Main Point The Chelsea Piers Mini...
