About Wedding Spend
Hi there! Welcome to Wedding Spend. As my fiancée and I go through the process of planning our wedding, I constantly find myself asking the question, “how do people afford . . . any of this?” Just the engagement ring and wedding reception alone can set a couple back more than the price of a college education. Add in the honeymoon etc., and the cost really starts to grow. On top of the cost, another frustrating part of the wedding planning process is the lack of price transparency. Sure, websites, such as Wedding Wire and The Knot give a vague range of vendor prices if you dig hard enough, but wouldn’t it be great if you could place a dollar figure on that. Even if their wedding details are different, it will still give you a better idea of where to start planning. Hopefully, I can shed some light on that by combining my personal wedding spending experience along with confirmed details that I gather from others over time.
Another goal I hope to achieve with this blog is to provide you with tips and strategies in wisely paying for your wedding. Sometimes, we tend to think long and hard only about large purchases, such as a house or a car, because they are large-ticket items. A wedding, on the other hand, is composed of a lot of medium-ticket items, such as the photographer and invitations. These items really add up and in the end, the total is often more than the price of a car. As someone who has worked in the financial services industry for years, personal finance, credit cards, and airlines miles/points have always fascinated me, and I want to share how anyone can use this knowledge to cut down the cost of a wedding without sacrificing too much.
