Flight Review: ANA First Class Square from Chicago to Tokyo

After stopping over at Charlotte for my friend’s wedding, my wife and I continued on to Japan for a week-long vacation at Tokyo then Hiroshima and Miyajima. We flew ANA First Class Square going to Tokyo and flew United BusinessFirst coming back to New York City from Hiroshima. By using United Airline’s MileagePlus miles and booking a round-trip, we were able to get one free stopover and one free open jaw. The free stopover meant our flight down to Charlotte was free, and the free open jaw meant we could fly back home from Hiroshima even though we flew into Tokyo.   How You Can Do It We booked our award flights before United Airlines completely changed their award chart and increased mileage prices substantially especially for nicer Star Alliance airlines, such as ANA. While you can still book the same ANA First Class Square flight, the number of United miles needed is so high I wouldn’t recommend doing so. Instead, I recommend using United MileagePlus miles to book...

Trip Review: What to Do in Washington DC

Besides enjoying the Park Hyatt Washington Park Executive Suite and the great food options in the city, we also took part in a lot of activities during our visit to Washington DC. Naturally, the city has lots of museums, and they are not necessarily all government related. If you visit during the National Cherry Blossom Festival, you will have a daily list of festivities to choose from as well. Here’s a short list of what to do in Washington DC.   What to Do in Washington DC Segway tours are a popular way to quickly see all the popular buildings and memorials spread through the National Mall area, and I highly recommend it unless you want to spend a long period of time at one specific attraction. We went with Private DC Segway Tours and thought they were awesome. You’ll also want to contact your local Congressman’s office months before your visit if you want to tour the White House as they will need time to try to secure...

Google Shopping Express: Free $15 and 6 Months Same-Day Delivery

Previously, I wrote about how to get free two-day shipping via ShopRunner. Well, it was only a matter of time before free same-day delivery became reality. Google recently launched Google Shopping Express in San Francisco and Manhattan, and the service offers same-day delivery from a variety of retailers. That means now, we can all become more of a hermit than ever before! For a limited time, sign up for Google Shopping Express and get the service free for 6 months. After 6 months, the service will automatically expire unless you choose to renew so even if you forget that you signed up, you won’t be charged anything later on. In addition, you’ll also get $15 off your first purchase if you use my referral link; the normal signup link only gives you $10 off your first purchase. [Update 6/9/14] The special referral $15 signup bonus is no longer available, but you can still get $10 off your first purchase by signing up for Google Shopping Express through the public offer available...

Barclays US Airways Credit Card: Free 40,000 Miles

You may be aware that American Airlines and US Airways recently merged earlier this year. What that means is US Airways is now part of the Oneworld alliance and when the merger is fully completed, US Airways Dividend miles will become American Airlines AAdvantage miles. As a result, I recently opened a Barclays US Airways credit card not only because it has a great signup bonus of 40,000 miles after the first purchase but also because this year could be the last year to get this large signup bonus. Eventually, Citi will become the official issuer of American Airlines credit cards, and US Airways branded credit cards will no longer exist.   Barclays US Airways   40,000 miles signup bonus after first purchase (no spending requirement!) 5,000 miles discount on US Airways award tickets First checked bag free for you and up to four companions on US Airways flights Annual companion certificate lets you pay $99 plus tax for each companion (up to two) on US Airways flights Annual...
