Trip Review: What to Eat in Washington DC

We recently stayed three nights at the Park Hyatt Washington and was able to try a range of restaurants in the city. While I can’t think of any food that Washington D.C. specializes in, we really enjoyed the food in the city. As a result, I thought I’d share with you ideas on what to eat in Washington DC.

What to Eat in Washington DC

We liked the free breakfast at Blue Duck Tavern that was included in our stay since the menu items were quite varied and different from what you might see on typical breakfast menus. Dishes, such as Maryland crab with scrambled egg whites and short rib hash, were all fantastic. The restaurants we went for dinner were all great as well, and we particularly enjoyed Estadio, which was recommended by my friend who lives in Washington D.C.

I booked our stay via a special Hyatt Free Time rate where we booked a two-night weekend stay and received a third night free along with daily breakfast for two at the famous Blue Duck Tavern restaurant

Estadio had larger portions and much better tasting tapas than other Spanish restaurants I've been to in the past

The Main Point

Washington D.C. has a great selection of restaurants that will satisfy your taste buds. Just a quick tip for those of you staying at the Park Hyatt Washington and planning to eat at Blue Duck Tavern. Even if you charge your Blue Duck Tavern bill to your hotel stay, you can’t use Hyatt gift certificates to pay for the restaurant charges. I tried doing that and was told I couldn’t do so unfortunately. You can, however, use the Barclays Arrival credit card to pay for the entire hotel stay including the Blue Duck Tavern charges and then redeem the 44,000 miles signup bonus to save money that way.
