Bachelor/Bachelorette Party Review: The Borgata at Atlantic City
If I had to guess, Las Vegas is probably the most popular destination for a bachelor or bachelorette party, and Sin City has only become more popular with the release of Vegas-themed movies, such as The Hangover. For those of us on the East Coast, however, Atlantic City is also a great substitute. It may not be as big or flashy as Las Vegas, but Atlantic City has its benefits – the main one being that it’s only two hours from New York City by car. In fact, a group of us took Atlantic Limousine to Atlantic City for a couple of my friends’ 30th birthday weekend last fall and had a fun time at The Borgata.
How You Can Do It
The Borgata is not part of a hotel chain or partnership so you can’t redeem hotel points for a free stay. Of course, hotels including The Borgata are considered a travel expense so you can use the Barclays Arrival credit card and redeem part of the 44,000 miles signup bonus to get the hotel stay for free!
Sunday to Thursday night stays are relatively cheap but unsurprisingly, Friday and Saturday night stays are very expensive. On average, it seems like a standard room on Friday nights will cost around $200 while a standard room on Saturday nights will cost double that. Even if you don’t play poker, however, you can call the Borgata Poker Room to ask the poker room manager for a poker room rate. You will need to be a My Borgata Rewards member, and the poker room manager may not give you the discount rate. But if you are successful, a standard room will only cost roughly $125 for Fridays and $179 for Saturdays. As a result, the bonus miles from the Barclays Arrival credit card will easily cover the cost of one room for a weekend trip.
The Borgata at Atlantic City
The Main Point
If you are looking for a Vegas-like bachelor or bachelorette party experience but don’t want to travel cross-country, Atlantic City can be a good option. Most of the resorts on the boardwalk are old and run-down, however, and Revel gets horrible reviews despite it being the newest resort in Atlantic City. As a result, I recommend staying at The Borgata where the rooms are clean and modern while the rest of the resort boasts a world-class poker room, a wide variety of dining options, and an active nightlife.
