Honeymoon Trip Review: What to Do in Kauai
By now, you’ve probably read my reviews on the Grand Hyatt Kauai regarding the Deluxe Ocean View Room, the amenities at the resort, and the Grand Hyatt Kauai luau. If you haven’t read those posts and are interested in staying at one of the best resorts in Kauai for free, please go back and take a look. Last time, I also covered what to eat in Kauai so today, I’ll go over what to do in Kauai.
What to Do in Kauai
Kauai is not that big an island, but there is so much to do that you won’t get bored. We spent a week in Kauai and still didn’t have enough time to get around to certain activities, such as zip-lining or surfing lessons. Kauai also offers a wide range of activities from adventurous ones to relaxing ones so plenty of variety for everyone.
The Wailua Falls are only a short drive from the Grand Hyatt Kauai
I think this artist consistently hangs out near Wailua Falls carving up cool hats and other souvenirs from the tree leaves
His loyal dog was also there
We recommend Wings Over Kauai, which offers air tours of Kauai for $125 if you book online. You won’t get as close to the sites as a helicopter, but it’s just as scenic and a heck of a lot cheaper.
The airvan if you have a group or family
Or the Cessna for two people, perfect for newlyweds
Bruce, who owns the company with his wife, gives a great tour and makes you feel at ease. My wife enjoyed being the co-pilot.
The impressive and unspoiled Na Pali Coast
You may recognize the Na Pali Coast from movies, such as Jurassic Park
Wailua Falls looks so small compared to when we saw it up front
A few weeks after we came back from Kauai, we found out that Deputy, our dog for a day, was adopted by someone!
I’ll never forget how much he loved to sniff everything
Free samples of all their different types of coffee
A snack shop and area to wait for their guided tours, which start at 10am, 12pm, 2pm, and 4pm
We did the guided tour but you can easily do the self tour since the tour path has instructions
I didn’t know coffee beans looked more like a fruit
Chuck, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable
The coffee nursery
A tractor for collecting the coffee beans
Along the drive to the North Shore, we found this random rope swing, which was a real gem
We stopped by Anini Beach, which we heard was a great beach, but I thought it was just average for Kauai
So we literally drove to the end of the island where you can see the back of the Na Pali Coast
The end of the island is where Ke’e Beach is located, and it is just awesome
The chickens in Kauai are not scared of humans. I’m standing about two feet away, and the mother and chicks don’t seem bothered at all.
Coincidentally, the end of the island is where we spent our last day in Kauai
The Main Point
Kauai is the perfect Hawaiian island for a honeymoon, in my opinion, because it’s scenic and has so much to do. At the same time, it’s peaceful and offers more of a romantic atmosphere. The activities are scattered throughout the island so you will need a car to get around. We were able to rent a convertible for free using Costco Travel then paying with the Barclays Arrival credit card.

When opening credit cards for big bonuses, however, just remember to be financially responsible and pay off your credit card balances every month, cancel the credit cards before the annual fee hits, and use Amazon Payments to meet credit card minimum spending requirements rather than actually spend any money.
