Wedding Transportation Cost: Regal Carriage

Instead of booking a limousine, my fiancée and I are going with a car service from Regal Carriage to shuttle us around on our wedding day. Limos can be very pricey costing hundreds of dollars for a short ride and while it’s cool to ride in a stretch limo, I’ve done it before, and it’s really nothing too special. We thought it was more important to save money on aspects, such as transportation and wedding cake, so that we can invite more guests while sticking to our budget. As a result, we though the SUVs from Regal Carriage were perfect for our needs.

Wedding Transportation: Regal Carriage

Date Price Quoted: May 2013

Wedding Date Quoted For: July 2013 (Saturday evening)

Price Assumptions: One vehicle, one way

Capacity: 6-passenger SUV

Transportation Fee: $67.50

Tax: $7.55

Gratuity: 20%

Total Wedding Transportation Cost: $90.05

The Main Point

If you look at Regal Carriage’s rates, you’ll see that SUV rides within Manhattan are $75. If you mention their website when you make a reservation, however, you get a 10% discount so the cost drops to $67.50. After adding $7.55 for taxes/administrative charges and 20% or $15.00 in gratuity, the final cost comes to $90.05 per SUV; we ended up booking three SUVs (two going to the church and one going home). Despite Regal Carriage getting better reviews than the more well-known car service companies, such as Carmel and Dial 7, Regal Carriage actually charges less for a SUV. Regal Carriage also has standard black cars of course, but we needed to fit at least five people per vehicle, hence the SUV.

I have been in a Regal Carriage car before, and the service and car cleanliness is noticeably better than other car service companies. And while $90.05 per ride for five to six people may seem expensive, it’s substantially cheaper than a limo. You can always sign up for Uber and use the initial free credit to book a car, but Uber only lets you book a car in real-time. To book a car service ahead of time that is reasonably priced and has great service, I would suggest Regal Carriage.
