Free $45 Car Service Via Uber
If you’re not familiar with Uber, it’s a tech company that provides on-demand car service in major metropolitan areas, such as New York, San Francisco, etc. Instead of calling up a car service, you ask for a car from your smartphone or computer by inputting your current address (or Uber will detect your address if you have location sharing on). Drivers that have contracted with Uber will then see the request and accept. Once confirmed, they will come pick you up. Then at your destination, you simply get out of the car. Your credit card is already on file and it will be charged along with tip, which is already factored into the price. Rates vary by cities and vehicle type, and you can see them here. Last but not least, a summary of the trip will be emailed to you.
I would say Uber is a up-and-coming tech company except they’re beyond that phase now and have already grown so rapidly. Nevertheless, they are constantly offering free credit for new customers and until July 7th, you can get $20 credit if you sign up through a friend; here is my referral link but you can also have a friend send you a referral instead. On top of the free $20 signup bonus, until July 10th, you can also score another $25 via Amazon Local to make it $45 total.
Step 1: Sign up via a referral link first. You will instantly see $20 in your Uber account if you sign up July 7th or earlier. After that time, it’s only $10.
Step 2: Sign up for the Amazon Local Uber $25 deal July 10th or earlier.
Step 3: In you Uber account, go to the Promotions tab then enter the code you get from Amazon Local into the promotion code field. After hitting submit, you should get another $25. Note that this $25 from Amazon Local is only good for the first ride and expires if not used before August 31, 2013. That means if your Uber ride is only $20, for example, it will be free but you will forfeit the $5 remainder you received from Amazon Local. The signup $20, however, has no expiration date and is good for multiple trips.
The Main Point
I’ve used Uber several times, and the service is great. And while I doubt I will really use Uber on a daily basis since it’s not exactly cheap, I will definitely use it for the wedding day if I have free credit to spend. My fiancée and I plan to request private cars via Uber to transport some of our vendors, such as the photographer and videographer, around on the wedding day. If you want to cut back on overpriced limousines, you can have multiple people sign up and use the multiple free $45 Uber credit for you and your bridal party. Doing so could save you quite a bit on wedding transportation.
One last important note. At least in New York, you can’t apply your account’s Uber credit to an uberTAXI so make sure to request any vehicle type EXCEPT an uberTAXI.
Disclaimer: I may receive referral credit for some of the links above, which I appreciate
