Wedding Venue Cost: Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel #3

As mentioned before, the Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel’s intro western wedding package is the Elegant Wedding package. The other western wedding package is the Grand Wedding package, and here is the price breakdown.     Wedding Venue: Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel Date Price Quoted: June 2013 Wedding Date Quoted For: Summer 2014 (Saturday evening) Price Assumptions: Includes dinner reception for 150 guests Room Name: Western Wedding Grand Wedding Capacity: 180+ Venue Fee: $0 Catering Per Person: $109 Tax: 8.875% Gratuity: 21% Total Wedding Venue Cost: $21,539   The Main Point At $109 a person instead of $99.95, the total cost is just $1,788 more than the Elegant Wedding package. For that price, you get five hours of open bar instead of four hours, and the bar offerings are better. In addition, you receive a carving station and pasta station for the one-hour cocktail hour as well as the hot hors d’oeuvres passed butler style. Last but not least, you receive better, more diverse menu choices for the appetizer, salad,...

Buying Discounted Stamps on Ebay

As I mentioned before, wedding invitations and postage expenses can quickly add up if you are sending out traditional, physical invitations. Not only do you have to pay for the wedding invitation postage, you may also decide to pay for the postage of the RSVP card. Last but not least, you will probably be sending many thank you cards after the wedding, which again requires more postage. If you definitely want your invitations and stamps to be decorative, then read my post regarding wedding stamps and hand cancellation. If you simply want to mail out your wedding invitations via the lowest cost, however, then you might be interested in discounted stamps sold on Ebay. For many reasons (extra inventory or they acquired the stamps cheaper than face value), some Ebay sellers will sell you postage stamps at a discount to face value if you buy in bulk. Bulk doesn’t necessarily mean thousands of stamps either. Here are two listings, for example, of discounted stamps – one is for 1,000...

Wedding Transportation Cost: Regal Carriage

Instead of booking a limousine, my fiancée and I are going with a car service from Regal Carriage to shuttle us around on our wedding day. Limos can be very pricey costing hundreds of dollars for a short ride and while it’s cool to ride in a stretch limo, I’ve done it before, and it’s really nothing too special. We thought it was more important to save money on aspects, such as transportation and wedding cake, so that we can invite more guests while sticking to our budget. As a result, we though the SUVs from Regal Carriage were perfect for our needs.   Wedding Transportation: Regal Carriage Date Price Quoted: May 2013 Wedding Date Quoted For: July 2013 (Saturday evening) Price Assumptions: One vehicle, one way Capacity: 6-passenger SUV Transportation Fee: $67.50 Tax: $7.55 Gratuity: 20% Total Wedding Transportation Cost: $90.05   The Main Point If you look at Regal Carriage’s rates, you’ll see that SUV rides within Manhattan are $75. If you mention their website when you make a reservation, however, you...

Discover It Credit Card: Free $75 Amazon Gift Card

Previously, I mentioned that you should open the Discover It credit card but rarely use it, because the card offers many perks including access to the lucrative ShopDiscover cash back portal, 5% cash back on rotating categories, and has no annual fee. The downside, however, is that Discover rarely offers the big sign-up bonuses that many other credit card companies offer. In fact, you usually get nothing for opening the Discover It credit card versus another excellent card, such as the Barclays Arrival credit card, which gets you 44,000 miles worth ~$440.     Recently, however, I was reading Rapid Travel Chai’s blog, and one of his readers made a comment that anyone can get a $75 Amazon gift card for opening the Discover It credit card through Amazon. I tried it myself and sure enough, you do get a $75 Amazon gift card! This offer is better than my previous link for the Discover It credit card.     The Main Point A $75 Amazon gift card may...

Free $45 Car Service Via Uber

If you’re not familiar with Uber, it’s a tech company that provides on-demand car service in major metropolitan areas, such as New York, San Francisco, etc. Instead of calling up a car service, you ask for a car from your smartphone or computer by inputting your current address (or Uber will detect your address if you have location sharing on). Drivers that have contracted with Uber will then see the request and accept. Once confirmed, they will come pick you up. Then at your destination, you simply get out of the car. Your credit card is already on file and it will be charged along with tip, which is already factored into the price. Rates vary by cities and vehicle type, and you can see them here. Last but not least, a summary of the trip will be emailed to you.     I would say Uber is a up-and-coming tech company except they’re beyond that phase now and have already grown so rapidly. Nevertheless, they are constantly offering...

Wedding Venue Cost: Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel #2

The Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel is not just a popular choice for Asian couples to hold a low-cost Chinese wedding reception, but it’s also a popular choice to hold a western style reception! Like the eastern style receptions, you have a couple of package options to choose from, including the Elegant Wedding package.     Wedding Venue: Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel Date Price Quoted: June 2013 Wedding Date Quoted For: Summer 2014 (Saturday evening) Price Assumptions: Includes dinner reception for 150 guests Room Name: Western Wedding Elegant Wedding Capacity: 180+ Venue Fee: $0 Catering Per Person: $99.95 Tax: 8.875% Gratuity: 21% Total Wedding Venue Cost: $19,751   The Main Point For the western wedding packages at the Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel, you are charged per person rather than per table of 10 for the eastern wedding packages. For the entry-level Elegant Wedding package, it’s $99.95 a person. Other aspects, such as 8.875% tax and 21% gratuity stay the same. What is interesting is that the western wedding packages also include a cocktail hour,...
