Free Hotel Suites with the Chase Hyatt Credit Card

The Chase Hyatt credit card is a great credit card by itself, because the signup bonus gives you two free nights at any Hyatt after you spend $1,000 within 3 months. But if you obtain a Hyatt diamond trial to get Hyatt diamond status BEFORE opening the credit card, your two free nights will be in a Hyatt suite! Let’s take a look at the benefits of the Chase Hyatt credit card.

Chase Hyatt

  • 2 free nights signup bonus after spending $1,000 within 3 months
  • Free Hyatt platinum status
  • No foreign exchange fee
  • Free night at any category 1 to 4 Hyatt hotel on your card anniversary
  • 3 Hyatt Gold Passport points per $1 spent at Hyatt hotels
  • 2 Hyatt Gold Passport points per $1 spent on dining, airlines, and car rentals
  • 1 Hyatt Gold Passport points per $1 spent on everything else
  • $75 annual fee not waived the first year

Normally you get two free nights in a standard room at any Hyatt when you open the Chase Hyatt credit card but if you already have Hyatt platinum status when you open the card, you get two free nights AND two free suite upgrade certificates. If you are Hyatt diamond status when you open the card, your two free nights are in a suite! As mentioned before, when you start a Hyatt diamond trial, you get four suite upgrade certificates. That means you can pay for the rest of your honeymoon stay and apply one of the suite upgrade certificates. Of course, you should pay using the Barclays Arrival credit card, and the free ~$440 it gives you towards travel-related costs. The end result is you get your entire honeymoon stay in a suite, and the first two nights are free. If you use the Barclays Arrival credit card, the paid portion will also be ~$440 less.

With the Chase Hyatt credit card, you also get a free night at any category 1 to 4 Hyatt property on your card anniversary every year. When your Hyatt diamond status ends after the 60-day Hyatt diamond trial, the credit card will also give you Hyatt platinum status, which is Hyatt’s mid-tier status. Hyatt platinum status gives you free internet access and a low chance at a room upgrade, but it’s really nothing special.

The Main Point

The Chase Hyatt credit card is very similar to the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve credit card in that you get two free nights as a signup bonus and you get free mid-tier status. Some benefits of the Chase Hyatt card, however, are superior. Unlike the free nights from the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve, the two free nights from the Chase Hyatt are not restricted to the weekend. In addition, you also earn a free night every card year without having to spend a certain amount. Last but not least, the annual fee of $75 is less then the $95 annual fee of the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve.

Nevertheless, the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve is also special in its own ways. The free night every card year (after spending $40,000) is not really restricted to lower category hotels, whereas the free night for the Chase Hyatt is restricted to category 1 to 4. In addition, Hilton HHonors gold from the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve card is better than Hyatt platinum from the Chase Hyatt card; you get free breakfast and possible access to the hotel lounge. Most importantly, opening the Citi Hilton Honors Reserve card first will give you the Hilton HHonors gold status you need to then get a Hyatt diamond trial, which will then let you open the Chase Hyatt credit card and get two free nights in a suite!
