Wedding Venue Cost: NYIT de Seversky Mansion

New York Institute of Technology’s Old Westbury campus houses the NYIT de Seversky Mansion, one of the top wedding venues in Long Island. Whether you’ve always thought a mansion would be a great venue for your wedding or you were inspired by the recent Great Gatsby movie to throw a Gatsby-esque party for your big day, you will want to check out the NYIT de Seversky Mansion.

The Main Point

NYIT de Seversky Mansion’s price is certainly on the higher side of venues I have analyzed recently but if you compare the price to that of other so-called mansion venues in the area, the price is actually quite reasonable. The reviews are great, and the Seversky Mansion website has lots of information, including extensive pictures, a great floor plan for you to explore, and a FAQ about the different style of weddings offered.

Unlike a lot of other wedding venues, NYIT de Severksy Mansion offers a traditional style wedding, an European style wedding, and a mansion style wedding. Each style is designed to suit a different wedding size and the type of interactions the wedding couple has in mind. The traditional style, for example, can accommodate up to 150 guests and is your standard seated dinner reception in one room – the Ballroom. Mansion style, on the other end of the spectrum, takes place throughout the mansion and is more like a non-stop cocktail hour with dinner stations etc. While the pricing estimate I received was for a traditional style wedding, I don’t imagine the catering cost or the overall cost to vary too much from one style to another.

  1. I recently had my wedding here and It was a disaster! The staff was horrible, they over lapped my wedding and my guests didnt get the food they ordered! They made me late waling down the isle and I would not reccomend them!!

    • Wow, that’s terrible! Thanks for sharing your experience so that other couples who are researching the NYIT de Seversky Mansion can learn more about the venue than just price information.

    • They only do one wedding at a time. How did it overlap?

      • My guess is there was back-to-back weddings, and the earlier wedding ran late.

  2. I did too. It must be going down in ratings.

  3. I just had a very bad experience there as well plus there is a 20% administrative fee that you didn’t include. We thought is was gratuity but it actually is not!

    • Hmm, that seems deceptive. Are you saying you paid both a 20% administrative fee as well as 20% gratuity? A lot of times, they use the term administrative fee and gratuity interchangeably these days so it might be the same charge. If you don’t mind, would you share the cost of your wedding at NYIT de Seversky (anonymously of course), and I can put up an updated posting to help others get a better picture.

  4. Hey. I’m having my wedding here in the next few months. We wanted a gatsby theme and the mansion was perfect. The staff and crew are amazing. They really care about the bride and want the day to be perfect. These are the first bad reviews I have ever read. Every time I tell someone that I am getting married here they start gushing about what an amazing time they had at a wedding at the mansion. The food has always been the big hit. It is on the higher end price wise but it is worth the amazing experience. The only issue we are having is keeping our guest list to 135. We are doing the traditional style wedding. As for the wedding overlapping I just don’t understand how that is possible if you rent out the entire mansion (site fee). To all brides looking I would highly suggest this amazing place. It truly is a different and unique wedding.

    • Congratulations on your upcoming wedding, Vanessa! I was also quite surprised by some of the negative experiences people have had since most of the reviews I’ve read were quite positive. Someone I know personally recently had their wedding there as well and while I wasn’t in attendance, I heard they had a great time. I’m sure you will too.

  5. Recently went as a guest. The food was disappointing. The party was run very poorly. Most of the guests had left before they finally served desert. When we went to get our car we were waiting for awhile. Finally figured out Valet was sleeping in his own car.

    • Wow, that doesn’t sound fun at all. Thanks for the info; I’m sure others will find it helpful.

  6. Hello everyone…the first post (Rose Bush) is a liar. The mansion hosts one wedding at a time.

  7. Its a beautiful venue with excellent service. The food is great and the grounds are to die for. I’ve attended plenty of weddings and social events and I would say this place takes top honors.
