Massive Savings on Wedding Rings through Blue Nile
Yesterday, I walked through how to save big when buying a diamond engagement ring through Blue Nile. For those who are already engaged, you can also save big when buying wedding rings through Blue Nile, but the steps are slightly different. The reason is because wedding rings are usually less costly than diamond engagement rings, which leads to two interesting considerations (for a better understanding of the next part, please read yesterday’s post first if you haven’t already):
1) Because wedding rings generally don’t have large diamonds, they are more likely to be considered jewelry by Blue Nile. This fact means you may be able to use a coupon code, which you can’t use on a diamond engagement ring. Just from a quick Google, I was able to find a coupon code, which takes $25 off a $250 purchase, $50 off a $500 purchase, or $100 off a $1,000 purchase.
2) Because wedding rings sometimes cost less than $499.01, you will get higher cash back from Top Cash Back since Top Cash Back gives higher cash back for orders up to $499.01 but lower cash back for orders $499.01 to $7,500. This increased cash back may mean that you will want to forgo using a coupon code, and I’ll show you why below.
After going through Top Cash Back to get to Blue Nile and selecting a wedding ring, you’ll arrive at a checkout screen like one of the pictures below. You’ll notice that Ring A only costs $440 while Ring B costs $1,060. Since Ring A is less than $499.01, you want the higher cash back from Top Cash Back so DO NOT use a coupon code, which will invalidate the cash back portal. If you are looking to buy something like Ring B, however, put in a coupon code. You will notice two changes. First, the coupon code took $100 off your order. Second, using the coupon code led to the message saying, “this promotion code will void your affiliate reward.” That’s ok since $100 is better than the cash back you would get from Top Cash Back for making a purchase larger than $499.01.
The Main Point
Buying a wedding ring from Blue Nile is similar to buying a diamond engagement ring from Blue Nile up until the last step. Once at checkout, you’ll have to decide whether you want to use a coupon code or not by comparing the cash back you’ll receive through Top Cash Back against the coupon saving.
In the example above, the cash back you receive from Ring A is better than the discount from using a coupon code. For Ring B, however, you will be better off using a coupon code. By using the tips I’ve discussed, you will save tremendously versus buying wedding rings at a retail store. FYI, both rings are platinum wedding rings.
