Wedding Venue Cost: Fox Hollow
The last wedding venue I discussed, The Palm House at Brooklyn Botanic Garden, is definitely on the pricy side. Going down in price, however, does not necessarily mean lower quality. Fox Hollow in Long Island is a perfect example. It is consistently rated one of the best venues in Long Island and yet, the cost is extremely well-priced. I personally think it is the #1 value amongst Long Island venues but take a look yourself at the cost breakdown for Fox Hollow’s Garden Terrace room:
Wedding Venue: Fox Hollow
Date Price Quoted: November 2012
Wedding Date Quoted For: July 2013 (Saturday evening)
Price Assumptions: Includes ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception for 150 guests
Room Name: Garden Terrace
Venue Fee: $0
Catering Per Person: $115
Total Wedding Venue Cost: $22,537
The Main Point
Although the minimum number of guests required for Fox Hollow’s Garden Terrace room is 175, I made the assumption of 150 guests since that is what I assumed for The Palm House. That way, you can have a better comparison basis. You will notice immediately that the total price is less than half that of The Palm House. Fox Hollow does not charge a hefty venue fee, and the catering cost per person is very good at around $115 a person. As you continue your wedding planning, you’ll realize that finding a good venue who will cater for less than $100 a person is basically impossible.
You can read more about the amenities, such as the outdoor patio and huge dance floor, on Fox Hollow’s website. I have personally attended a wedding at Fox Hollow, and I think the venue is superb. It is not too far from Manhattan, the place is classy, and service is great. Most importantly, the price really can’t be beat. Fox Hollow was definitely a top choice for my fiancée and me, but ultimately we went with a church since that was very important to us.
